The nursing courses in St. Stephens hospital were started in 1952 with a Diploma course. This course was upgraded to a college of nursing in the year 2008. The College has a team of dedicated and well-qualified faculty having vast experience. The College also engages experienced Doctors and part-time visiting faculty. These faculty teach allied subjects. St. Stephen’s Hospital College of Nursing is located in a prominent area of Delhi.

St Stephens hospital, a 595 bed multi-specialty hospital. It is a well established hospital with several courses. It is a popular hospital with excellent patient care. The hospital is also well known for its research activities and publications. The hospital was established in 1885 in the memory of Ms. Priscilla Winter. It was first started as a 20 bed hospital. In the year 1908, it was a 100 bedded hospital. It mainly catered to the health of Women and Children. By then, it was relocated to Tis Hazari from Chandni Chowk. By 1976, it became a 450 bedded multi-speciality institution. The focus on Mother and Child was maintained with a new block being built in 1996. At present, the bed strength stands at 595. Also, the St. Stephen’s Hospital Healthcare Facility has also been commissioned in nearby Gurgaon, Haryana.

Eligibility criteria
Eligibility for DGNM
a) You should be unmarried since married candidates are not selected.
b) You can apply only if you are a female, since it is a girls only college.
c) Your age should not be less than 17 years as on 31st December in the year of admission. In addition, you should be below 25 years of age as on 31st July of year of admission.
d) You should be medically fit as per the medical examination conducted by St. Stephen’s Hospital. This is a part of the admission process.
e) Pass in 10+2 or equivalent with 50% aggregate in science subjects.
f) Successful completion of ANM course.
Eligibility for B.Sc. (Honours) Nursing
a) Unmarried female candidates only can apply to this college
c) You should not be less than 17 years as on 31st December of year of admission. You should be below 25 years of age as on 31st July of year of admission.
d) You should be medically fit as per the medical examination conducted by St. Stephen’s Hospital. This is done as part of the admission process.
e) Pass in 10+2 or equivalent with 50% aggregate in science subjects.
Application process for DGNM & B.Sc. (Honours) Nursing
Obtain prospectus by paying its cost in the hospital campus
Obtain application form can also be downloaded from the website www.ststephenshospital.org. Duly filled downloaded application form should be submitted along with a demand draft of Rs. 800/- in favour of St. Stephen’s Hospital, Delhi. The last date of submitting the filled in application will usually be in the end of June.
– Test guidance / Selection Process for DGNM & B.Sc. (Honours) Nursing
The selection of candidates is only based on a written test and interview that will be held in Delhi only.
You will have to face multiple choice Questions in the exam. They will be mainly from the 12th standard Physics/Chemistry/Biology/ General knowledge/ Maths/English subjects.
The selection exam date will be informed to candidates by post. It is likely to be held in July each year.
The first step to get selected in this college is this. You have to perform well in the written tests.
If you are shortlisted, you will be called for a personal interview.
You have to produce original certificates for scrutiny at the time of this interview.
Candidates selected in the interview will have to undergo a medical examination performed after a non refundable fee of Rs 2500 is paid. Admission is subject to being medically fit.
Classes for selected candidates will start by end of July or early August.
Sponsorship is available for Christian candidates in St. Stephen’s Hospital College of Nursing. But your sponsorship does not guarantee admission. The sponsored candidate has to perform satisfactorily in the Written Test and also the Interview.

The 1st year fees is Rs.1,60,000 (approx, includes hostel fees)
2nd year onwards, the fees is about Rs.1,05,000 (approx includes hostel fees)
Mess Fees is about Rs.2100 per month (approx)

1. Scholarships are also granted by the Delhi Nursing Council (DNC) for deserving candidates on merit basis
2. A limited number of scholarships are granted to students on merit-cum-need basis by the hospital.
3. The Trained Nurses Association of India also provides a limited number of scholarships.

The College Library is well stocked with sufficient and latest volumes of books. You will also find journals (national and international), Magazines and daily Newspapers. Good laboratory facilities and clinical facilities are also available. In addition, students gain experience and practical skills in various laboratories. Laboratories available are Fundamentals of Nursing, Nutrition, Biochemistry & Microbiology, Maternal & Child Health and Community Health Nursing.
The Institute has a spacious conference hall, a well furnished and also safe hostel. You will find the hostel with visiting room, recreation room and mess, etc. The College also collaborates with other institutions like IBHAS, RFTC Najafgarh. You will even be sent to these institutions for clinical experience in Mental Health and Community Health Nursing.
