– About the college
The Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing is popularly known as the RAK college of nursing. This is a pioneering institute in nursing. It is popular not only in India, but in the entire South East Asian area. The college started functioning in 1946 with the BSc(Hons) Nursing course being started. The college also runs a post graduate nursing course. This was started in the year 1959. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India controls the college financially. The college aims to train young women in a nursing career of maximum professional effectiveness.

– Eligibility criteria

Eligibility for B.Sc. (Honours) Nursing

Female students only
A pass in +2 / 12th standard or equivalent with 50% or more marks
English- Physics – Chemistry – Biology as main subjects
Medically fit
Minimum age should be 17 years by 1st October in the year of admission.

– Test guidance / Selection Process

The selection of candidates is only based on a Selection test which will be held in Delhi only.
Questions will be mainly from the 12th standard Physics/Chemistry/Biology portions. The test shall also include, some questions on English Comprehension and general knowledge in health.
Entrance Exam will be held for a duration of 150 minutes.

The selection exam is likely to be held in June each year. Applications are to be submitted by May.

Reservation in seats is as per government guidelines.
3 seats are reserved for foreign nationals
3% seats reserved for physically handicapped
Seats are also allotted to family members of defense personnel.

Eligibility for M.Sc. Nursing

A pass in B.Sc. Nursing with minimum 55% aggregate marks
1 year experience in nursing in an approved hospital/educational institution or public health
agency.
A candidate who has passed post Basic B.Sc. from INC recognised centres.

– Test guidance / Selection Process

50% of seats are reserved for candidates who have passed B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing
Examination of University of Delhi with at least 65% or above in the aggregate mark in order of merit without appearing in the Selection Test.
Remaining 50% of seats are filled with candidates who appear in the selection test.
Selection is based on performance in the Selection test and last qualifying examination (BSc Nursing). Weightage of 50% of the Selection test and 50% of the qualifying examination is calculated to arrive at the final selection list.

The selection exam is likely to be held in April each year. Applications are to be submitted by you in March.

Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nursing

Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nursing course helps to develop skills in research in nursing to develop nursing education, administration and quality of nursing services. Candidates seeking admission in Ph.D. in nursing should have obtained a Master’s Degree / M.Phill nursing degree from the University of Delhi or other recognized universities with at least 50% Marks.
Admission for Ph. D. in Nursing is given by Board of Research Studies, Faculty of Science, University of Delhi.

Good qualified and experienced faculty are available for teaching. There are 3 senior lecturers, 2 senior tutors, 9 tutors and 19 clinical instructors to conduct various theory and practical sessions for the students.
