Workshop On Construction and Standardization of Research Instruments
Research is getting top priority in higher education especially in health disciplines including nursing. Research in Nursing is key element in the nursing profession that has implications in changing education, practice, health policies and health status of the Country.
Nursing research encompasses a holistic approach and views the treatment of the patient, family members, and caregivers as a whole. It is high time to provide evidence based quality care through constant research work to promote research culture in the current scenario.
To accomplish this goal successfully, the phenomena in which researchers are interested must ultimately be translated into data that can be analyzed. In quantitative studies, the tasks of defining research variables, developing appropriate methods for collecting data are among the most challenging and essential key element in the research process. Therefore nurse researcher most often selects the standardized tools developed by the researchers in western countries which are at times not much suitable or applicable in our context. Non availability of appropriate tool is a major constraint for conducting quality research in India. Therefore it is essential for the nursing professionals to develop tools that are most applicable in Indian context by using methodologic approach in Research.

In recognition of this need, Apollo College of Nursing being a reputed and pioneer Institution in Nursing, has designed one day State level Workshop on ‘Construction and Standardization of Research tool (Questionnaire)’ which will encompass all the essential process of tool construction with appropriate exercises and practical sessions, which is ultimate gateway of success of the research.
This is aimed to provide a platform for PG students, Doctoral Students, Faculties and other nursing professionals in various levels to develop theoretical concepts and empirical insight on ‘Construction and standardization of research tool (Questionnaire)’. This will help the participants to learn, refresh and reinforce the fundamental concepts of tool construction.
